Dvara Research is a highly respected name in policy advocacy with a history of focused engagement with government agencies such as Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) etc., through our research contributions.
In our journey, we have also been awarded several prestigious grants for furthering our research agendas, and prizes for our research outcomes. Below timeline illustrates some of our significant contributions to governmental/regulatory committees, and our achievements. Dvara Research has been part of the drafting team of the Working Group report on the Social Stock Exchange (SSE), which was released by SEBI on June 1, 2020, for public comments. To elaborate on some of the recommendations made by the Working Group, we have been sharing our insights on the report through various channels.

In January 2019, the Reserve Bank of India constituted an ‘Expert Committee on Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises’ under the chairmanship of U K Sinha. Bindu Ananth was part of this committee and Dvara Research provided research support to her.

The Reserve Bank of India, in August 2016 constituted the “Household Finance Committee”, chaired by Dr. Tarun Ramadorai. We provided our insights to the committee.

In July 2015, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) constituted a ‘Committee on Medium-term Path on Financial Inclusion’ under Deepak Mohanty, Executive Director, RBI. Dvara Research provided research support to one of the committee members.
In September 2013, the Reserve Bank of India constituted the ‘Committee on Comprehensive Financial Services for Small Businesses and Low Income Households’ under the chairmanship of Dr. Nachiket Mor. Dvara Research served as the technical secretariat for this committee.

Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority constituted a committee to ‘Review Implementation of Informal Sector Pension’ in August 2010. Dr. Nachiket Mor was part of this committee and Dvara Research provided research support to him.

Dvara Research, in collaboration with Gram Vaani, University of Montreal, and Tika Vaani has been selected for the Azim Premji University COVID-19 Research Funding Programme 2020, to conduct action-research on designing better grievance redressal in social welfare schemes.

In May 2019, the Reserve Bank of India constituted a ‘Committee on the Development of Housing Finance Securitisation Market’ under the chairpersonship of Dr. Harsh Vardhan. Bindu Ananth was part of this committee and Dvara Research provided research support to her.

Bindu Ananth is a member of Working Group constituted by the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI) to recommend the strategy and approach for implementation of the personal insolvency provisions of the Code.
In parallel to this, we recently published the Dvara Research working paper titled “Estimating Eligibility for the Fresh Start Mechanism under IBC, 2016”. The full paper is available here.
Dvara Research contributed to the drafting of the report of the ‘High Powered Expert Committee for Estimating the Investment Requirements for Urban Infrastructure Services’ in 2011. This committee was chaired by Dr. Isher Ahluwalia and Anand Sahasranaman was part of it.
Having contributed to the drafting of the report, Dvara Research and Centre for Development Finance invited Dr. Ahluwalia to speak about the report in a workshop on Urban Infrastructure and Service Delivery. The proceedings from the discussion is available here
Gram Vaani in collaboration with Social Protection Initiative at Dvara Research has won the Global Prize of the World Bank Group’s ID4D Mission Billion Innovation Challenge, for our solution to reducing exclusions from digital-ID based social protection measures.

In March 2019, Deepti George and Malavika Raghavan were included in the “Top 100 Women in Finance for the year 2019” list along with Bindu Ananth. The recognition curated by “The Association of International Wealth Management of India” brought into focus some outstanding women leaders in finance that are moving the needle forward in their respective spheres.
Since 2017, Dvara Research has been actively contributing to the public discourse on India’s personal data protection regime. Our detailed consultation/feedback influenced the drafting of India’s Personal Data Protection Bill (the Bill).
As the Bill goes through the final stages of the Parliamentary process, we recently launched an interactive mark-up of the Bill to encourage a constructive community-wide engagement around how can the Bill help us create a more effective and consumer-friendly data protection framework suitable to India’s unique context.
